Bodega Diez Mérito

About the winery

Heir to Díez Hermanos, supplier to the Spanish Royal House under Alfonso XII, and to its 1979 merger with Marqués del Mérito. Housed in the historic Bodega Bertemati (1790).

Founded in 1876 by the Díez and Pérez de Muñoz brothers, the house received the title of supplier to the Royal House under Alfonso XII. In 1979 it merged with Bodegas Marqués del Mérito to form Díez Mérito. It retains the Bodega Bertemati, a vaulted cellar from 1790 in the heart of Jerez.

Designations of origin

DO Jerez-Xérès-Sherry · Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda

View wineries →

The designation of origin for the fortified wines of the Marco: fino, manzanilla, amontillado, palo cortado, oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, moscatel and cream. It covers ageing under flor and the criaderas y soleras system, and only wineries registered with the Consejo Regulador may use it.

DO Vinagre de Jerez (Sherry Vinegar)

View wineries →

A designation of its own for vinegar aged in the same American oak butts and through the same solera system as Sherry wine. Many wineries hold it alongside the wine DO; a few produce vinegar exclusively.
