Zoilo Ruiz-Mateos

Save to my lists

This house no longer makes wine or opens its doors.

Its page stays because people still look for it by name.

What remains of it lives on at: Williams & Humbert

About the winery

The Ruiz-Mateos family bodega, the house from which Rumasa emerged in 1961. From 2000 it belonged to the Garvey group, with which it passed to Emperador in 2017, and in 2020 it left the Consejo’s register. Its Don Zoilo range now belongs to Williams & Humbert.

Its roots are in Rota, home town of Zoilo Ruiz-Mateos, who moved to Jerez in the forties. Its oldest wines were released as Zoilo Ruiz Mateos Reserva Privada. Between 2022 and 2023 what was left of its complex on Calle Pizarro was demolished to make way for housing.
