Bodegas Garvey

This house no longer makes wine or opens its doors.

Its page stays because people still look for it by name.

What remains of it lives on at: Bodegas Fundador

About the winery

The house founded in Jerez in 1780 by the Irishman William Garvey, the home of San Patricio Fino. It passed through Rumasa and Nueva Rumasa, went into insolvency proceedings in 2011, and in January 2017 Emperador, the group that owns Fundador, bought its bodegas and brands; the company was wound up in 2024. Its wines are still sold under its name.

The old bodega in the centre, San Patricio, was demolished to build a supermarket, and the house moved to the Bellavista complex by the ring road: buildings designed by Miguel Fisac in the late sixties and protected by the Junta since 2009. After the expropriation of Rumasa it returned to the Ruiz-Mateos family through Nueva Rumasa, and since 2020 it no longer appears in the Consejo’s register.
