Gaspar Florido

This house no longer makes wine or opens its doors.

Its page stays because people still look for it by name.

What remains of it lives on at: Bodegas Alonso

About the winery

A Sanlúcar house with the Armijo vineyard, in the Miraflores pago, and some seven thousand butts, known for very old amontillados and palos cortados such as 25 GF. It was bought by Pedro Romero, and its company was dissolved in 2012; its soleras are now kept by Bodegas Alonso.

Francisco Florido revived the family business in the forties. The 25 GF solera was built from very old amontillados bought from Rodríguez Lacave.

Bodegas Barrero

Since 1798

The house that has been picking up what Sanlúcar let fall. It starts in 1798 with the Marquis of Casa Arizón's San Pedro bodega; in 1986 José Luis Barrero bought the Miguel Sánchez Ayala firm outright, and in 2019 the two Pedro Romero buildings. That makes 8,300 square metres of bodega in the Barrio Bajo, a step from the beach, and it has recently opened to visitors.

Bodegas Alonso

The Asencio brothers set this house up so that what was left of three extinguished Sanlúcar bodegas would not be lost: Pedro Romero, Gaspar Florido and Fernando Méndez. They keep their very old amontillados, olorosos and palos cortados — the Ánsar Real butts are over a century old — and since 2017 have released a manzanilla of their own, Velo Flor, backed by thirteen hectares in Balbaína and Miraflores.
