About the winery

A historic Jerez brand revived by Ramiro Ibáñez and Willy Pérez: finos and single-pago wines from Macharnudo and the Sanlúcar coast, with soleras started from scratch.

The house was founded in the mid-nineteenth century by Manuel Antonio de la Riva y Pomar, owner of a large vineyard holding in Macharnudo. The brand later passed to Pedro Domecq and, after the group was broken up, ended in the hands of the multinational Beam Global. In 2017 Ramiro Ibáñez and Willy Pérez rescued it to bottle single-pago wines once again: Willy works the inland zone of Jerez, of fuller-bodied wines, and Ramiro the coastal pagos of Sanlúcar. The new solera for the Macharnudo fino was begun with the 2019 vintage.

The designation of origin for the fortified wines of the Marco: fino, manzanilla, amontillado, palo cortado, oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, moscatel and cream. It covers ageing under flor and the criaderas y soleras system, and only wineries registered with the Consejo Regulador may use it.

Wines

El Notario Macharnudo

Palomino from one named Macharnudo vineyard, unfortified: the way of making wine that Jerez abandoned a century ago.

Fina de Miraflores Baja

A Manzanilla from Sanlúcar’s coastal pago par excellence, its flor at its finest.

Pasada Balbaína Alta

A Manzanilla Pasada from Balbaína Alta vines: the flor giving way and the oxidative base coming through.

San Cayetano Macharnudo

The house’s other Macharnudo plot, vinified apart so that the soil can be heard.
