Macharnudo palette: albariza and goldAn ageing bodega on the El Cotito farm in Mesas de Asta, where the González Sillero family of almacenistas once had their cellars. Two of their descendants, the brothers Javier and Jaime García González, brought it back in 2021 together with Enrique Barroso. It can be visited with a tasting, and its shop sells the wine from the cask or bottled.
The family began storing butts in 1915, next to the drovers’ resting place on the Mesas de Asta track, in the Almocadén pago, and Juan González Sillero became a leading almacenista with González Sillero S.A. After a fire, the bodega was reborn almost from scratch in 2021 with what was saved, which is now its sacristía. The Fino is aged at a constant temperature in a building they call the cavea vinaria, and the house also seasons casks for distilleries.
From the same butts and the same soleras.
