About the winery

An 1881 cortijo in San José del Valle where the Rebuelta González brothers, of the fifth generation of González Byass, began making Tierra de Cádiz reds in 2012 in the old olive mill. On albariza they grow Palomino, Tintilla de Rota, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Merlot, and make the El Pinto range with the British importer Les Caves de Pyrène.

The estate has had modern Palomino vines since 1972, from the days when it lay within the Jerez Superior zone; the red varieties arrived in the early 2000s. In 2012 the family decided to make its own wine and turned the cortijo’s old olive mill into a winery, for its thick walls and high ceilings. The El Pinto wines come from organic farming that is not certified.
