Bodegas Gallardo

About the winery

A bodega in La Barca de Vejer that ages fortified wines in solera, an orange wine made from Pedro Ximénez and still wines, and bottles them under the Vinos de Vexèr label. It has a shop with tastings, sessions for groups and halls for weddings and celebrations.

The house traces its origin to a winemaking family in Chiclana in 1870, and the press dates Manuel Gallardo Romero’s Vejer bodega to 1987. Since 2020 it has been run by Gonzalo Melgarejo and Teresa Montes, who created the Vinos de Vexèr label — Vejer’s name in Castilian times — and switched the orange wine to organic oranges. The Oloroso 1907 bears the year Manuel Gallardo’s mother was born.
