Macharnudo palette: albariza and goldOne of the oldest houses in the region, with documented ties dating back to 1264. It owns its own vineyards in the Macharnudo Alto pago.
The Valdespino family tradition dates back to 1264, when Alfonso X rewarded the knight Alfonso Valdespino with vineyard lands after the Reconquest of Jerez. The company as such was established in 1875 and remained in family hands until 1999, when it was bought by the José Estévez group, owner of Marqués del Real Tesoro and, since 2007, of La Guita as well. The group moved the butts to its complex on the N-IV road, and in 2023 Edrington, the company behind The Macallan, took half of its capital. Its vineyards in Macharnudo Alto remain a benchmark for single-vineyard wines.
