Bodegas León Domecq (Vides)

Save to my lists

About the winery

The old Vides bodegas on Calle Justicia, where wine has been kept since 1850, reopened by the León Domecq family in 2021 with the building restored. They were almacenistas for the big houses — Lustau bottled their Palo Cortado Almacenista Vides — and today they age everything from fino to Pedro Ximénez under the Señorío de Callao label, along with Jerez vinegars.

The original vineyard is La Compañía, in Macharnudo. In recent times the house kept wine for others, and behind the adjoining walls a gran reserva vinegar from 1946 is still kept. The restored bodega was inaugurated in May 2022, with the brothers Santiago and Tomás León Domecq as owners. It can be visited Monday to Friday by booking, with a tasting of seven wines and vermouth.

Designations of origin

DO Jerez-Xérès-Sherry · Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda

View wineries →

The designation of origin for the fortified wines of the Marco: fino, manzanilla, amontillado, palo cortado, oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, moscatel and cream. It covers ageing under flor and the criaderas y soleras system, and only wineries registered with the Consejo Regulador may use it.

DO Vinagre de Jerez (Sherry Vinegar)

View wineries →

A designation of its own for vinegar aged in the same American oak butts and through the same solera system as Sherry wine. Many wineries hold it alongside the wine DO; a few produce vinegar exclusively.
