Guadalete palette: river blueAn organic, estate-grown project in El Puerto de Santa María and a reference point for the Marco's new wave: unfortified albariza wines, fermented in clay tinajas and oak butts.
In 2007 Rocío Áspera and Alejandro Narváez bought the estate known as the pago El Forlón — once the olive grove and vineyard of a British merchant, Pedro Furlong, of which only two olive trees were left — and replanted albariza in the pagos of Balbaína and Grañina. They farm organically with Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximénez and Tintilla de Rota, alongside Syrah and Merlot, fermenting with native yeasts in century-old clay tinajas and oak butts. They are founding members of Territorio Albariza, the association of small growers that champions single-pago wine from the Marco.
