Macharnudo palette: albariza and goldThomas de Wangen and Lorna Cooper came back from Shanghai, where they imported and distributed wine, to plant themselves in the Balbaína pago: twenty-two hectares farmed organically and regeneratively on tosca cerrada albariza, with the bodega raised on the walls of the old Castillo de las Ánimas. Alongside Palomino they are bringing back near-lost varieties — Tintilla, Perruno, Vijiriega, Mantúo de Pilas, Jaén blanco — and with their parallel project Diatomists they bottle fortified wines by pago and by butt.
